WARDOWN HOUSE
Wardown House, Museum and Gallery is a Grade II listed building in the beautiful Wardown Park.
Formerly the home of the Scargill family, then a World War I military hospital, the house is now a museum. But not just any museum, this house transports you back in time, to a Victorian family home.
Every room tells a story, with interactive displays, a treasure trove of local curiosities and the largest hat collection in the UK!
When: Open daily between 10am - 4pm (April – October: 10am - 5pm).

PARKRUN – LUTON WARDOWN PARK ParkRun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. They always start at 9am and finish when the last runner/jogger/walker cross the finishing line. Try your local ParkRun in Wardown Park in Luton – it’s a fun, free event organised by volunteers for the benefit of everyone. When: every Saturday 9am. LOVE LUTON HALF MARATHON AND 10K
The Luton Half Marathon is a 3-lap, anti-clockwise race passing through Luton and the surrounding countryside. The race starts in the centre of Luton town. It then snakes out to the A6 and near countryside, passing the Pasque Hospice en route. Runners then pass through the village of Streatly. Leaving Streatly, the race then continues along country roads until, after a further 3-4 miles, passes back into Luton town and towards the start/finish line. This lap is repeated twice more.
The 10k race is a single-loop out-and-back course.
Both the Half Marathon and the 10k are UKA-certified, closed-road races.
Difficulty: hilly.
When: Sunday 27 October 2019 from 9am.
Where: Starts at Stockwood Park Athletics Track and finishes in the town centre.

Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the inflexibility of his traditional father. But when a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in the powerful lyrics. As Javed discovers an outlet for his own pent-up dreams, he also begins to express himself in his own voice.

‘There is an MBA here for anyone’ – University of Bedfordshire Business School.
The University of Bedfordshire operates from a newly established postgraduate centre in Luton. A rolling block structure allows six entry points through the year. As well as the general MBA, there are half a dozen specialisms, ranging from digital technology management to hospital and health services management.
Full-time MBA: Length, one year (22 months with placement).
Executive MBA: Length, two years.
The school says: ‘Our revalidated executive MBA addresses the skills required for the fourth industrial revolution’.
A student says: ‘I am an engineer working as a manager at a multinational in the automotive industry. I was looking for an executive MBA to learn about leadership, management and strategy, which has helped me get promoted. The game-changing plans for Newlands Park has been given the go-ahead by Luton Borough.
This momentous decision comes 2½ years after the plans were submitted and following a rigorous period of scrutiny from the Council's planning department.
As well as the obvious benefits to the Club, the developments will bring in the region of 10,000 jobs to Luton, and a much-needed boost to the local economy to the tune of £250m annually.

Leading up to and celebrating International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March, Departure Lounge and Luton Culture have invited acclaimed German artist Catrine Val to create an exhibition of insightful, new photographic and video portraits of women living in the Luton area.
The exhibition aims to explore the importance clothing plays in personal and cultural identity and how working environments can limit women’s everyday fashion choices and the ability to express their personality, cultural heritage or religious beliefs.
When: Friday 18 Jan – Saturday 9 March 2019, every Thu – Sat, 1PM – 6PM; closing event coinciding with International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March.
